The conference has a dedicated special collection in the journal Fire Ecology around the theme: the connection of fire ecology research and management across geographic and disciplinary boundaries.

If you are interested in submitting a manuscript, the deadline for submissions to the Special Collection is 31st January 2022.

Fire Ecology is published by Springer and provides open-access to readers along with a host of other services (podcasts, social media releases, etc). The journal prizes itself on multiple brag points including being the official journal of the Association for Fire Ecology, a focus on authors and actively disseminating published work, a great Editorial Board, a commitment to open-access, and a strong and rising Impact Factor.

All manuscripts submitted to Fire Ecology will be handled by a Special Collection Guest Editorial team (Francisco Seijo, Claire Belcher, Núria Prat-Guitart, Guillermo Defossé) and undergo standard external peer reviews by the journal. A page dedicated to the Special Collection can be found here: https://www.springeropen.com/collections/fireacross.

Authors must adhere to Fire Ecology formatting and quality standards in all ways. Papers published elsewhere or in consideration elsewhere will not be accepted. Papers presented as either oral or poster will be eligible for submission, and manuscripts from round tables and panel discussions are also encouraged.

Types of contributions to Fire Ecology include:

  • Original research
  • Reviews
  • Forum
  • Monograph
  • Technical note
  • Field note
  • Book reviews
  • Classic reprints

See the Submission guidelines for specifics on each contribution type and also the detailed Instructions to Authors for formatting, copyright, page charges, etc. Please submit manuscripts that follow these guidelines and are submission-ready.

We are keen on diverse submissions (i.e. we will entertain papers beyond standard “original research” submissions) that focus on the Fire Ecology Across Boundaries theme.
